Bus Tour
Today, I took a bus tour of the city. I realized that I hadn’t taken a tour of the city yet and I thought a bus tour would be a good way to cover a lot of area very quickly. I had bought the ticket online so when I arrived at the bus stop I was able to get right on the bus. I think there were about 10 people who were on the tour with me. I also think that I was the only one who requested English as a language. The tour went through more of the north part of town than the south part, but that makes sense because the south part is newer (the Neustadt). The tour did cover a large area, and it went to places that I would have had a hard time getting to with the public transit. There was not too much history with the tour. Most of it was pointing out buildings and places and saying what they are used for now, which does not make for a very interesting blog. My main complaint about the tour is that the tour guide was hard to hear when the air conditioning in the bus was on. The tour guide would say something in German then he would repeat it in English. From the German that I know, I think he was saying pretty much the same things in both languages. The tour was almost a figure eight tour of the city. We started at the train station, then went to the Übersee and Eurohaven area, then past the windmill and to the Neustadt. We then went by the river and up to the university area and then ended in the old part of town. I think that the tour would have been better if I had done it earlier, but I am glad that I did it.
